In celebration of 100 years of healthcare services to the community a commemorative book has been produced and is now available for purchase. The book is a pictorial essay of the 100-year history of St. Joseph’s General Hospital. Created from numerous images, stories and archived material, this 32-page manuscript provides a glimpse into the rich history of your community hospital, and highlights some of the people and events that shaped a centennial of service and commitment to providing “Care with Compassion” to the Comox Valley.

We are grateful to all those who created and preserved the wonderful visual and textual records of St. Joseph’s General Hospital over the decades. The photographs, transcripts, publications, and other archival records that you will see throughout the book were an invaluable resource as we wove together the story of this hospital.

The Commemorative Book is dedicated to all those who have been part of St. Joseph’s General Hospital and supported its mission for the past 100 years. It is the commitment and engagement of many generations of individuals, groups and organizations that has built and continues to support St. Joseph’s in its work.

“Most important is to acknowledge and thank the patients and residents who have entrusted their care to St. Joseph’s over the decades,” commented Jane Murphy, President and Chief Executive Officer. “It is a privilege to be of service. It is the support and engagement of our staff, physicians, volunteers, and community that has made it possible for St. Joseph’s to provide the care that it has over the years.”
